Charlie Tak Hei Kwong is an interdisciplinary artist and registered teaching professional specializing in educational technology, digital design, new media, creative arts, and special education. He holds a First-class Honours degree in creative arts and early years special education from The Education University of Hong Kong, as well as a primary teacher training qualification from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong).
His Undergraduate Honours Project, titled Evaluate the Teachers’ Practice: Adopting Spatial Pedagogy to Improve the Visual Arts Education in Nursery: A Case Study in Hong Kong Nursery, was supervised by Prof. Hung Keung (PhD, The Z-Node of the Planetary Collegium, Switzerland & UK)
He recently received his Master of Arts (Distinction) from Falmouth University, specializing in Digital Media, Community-based Practice, and Education through Arts. His practice-based research project, titled Digital Choi Hung: A Game-based Interactive Online Archive Adopting Transmedia Storytelling to Examine City Redevelopment, Cultural Identity, and Cultural Memories, was supervised by Dr. Kate Fahey (PhD, UAL) and Charlie Duck (MA, RCA).
Past exchange studies conducted in the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic, Academy for the Creative Economy at Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg, the Netherlands, and School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Charlie has worked in higher education institutions across Hong Kong, Western Europe and Canada since 2018. He is currently an Education Media Designer at the Department of Instructional Design in a public independent academic institution in Alberta. In his current role, he specializes in instructional design, blended learning, and technology-enhanced learning with Sharable Content Object Reference Model. The materials he co-developed were reviewed by the Advanced Education’s Post-Secondary Programs Branch for program accreditation and to support progress toward granting public independent academic institution status.
Apart from his academic and professional practice, he has served as a Department Head of the Venture Scout Group and Assistant Department Head of the Scout Group at the Hong Kong Playground Association.
