Building Text-to-Speech Function on Articulate Rise 360

So here’s the deal, Articulate Rise now includes a built-in text-to-speech feature… but only if you’re on the paid AI plan. It works, but every time you update the text, you’ll have to regenerate the audio. That means more time, more effort, and it will be more cost.

That’s why I built a quick little workaround !!

Adding the following script lets your users simply highlight any text on the screen, and it’ll read it out loud automatically, no uploading, no re-recording, no extra fees. It just works, right in the browser!

Here’s what it does:

  • Reads selected text out loud in English voice

  • Stops speaking if the text is unselected

  • Works on mobile and desktop

  • Great for accessibility, language learners, and multitaskers

LATEST PROJECT

This creative workshop is part of the funded doctoral research project Building Identity Through Stories (BITS). The project explores how transmedia storytelling (TS) can support students with learning differences as they transition into university and begin shaping their identity and sense of belonging.

The workshop brings together perspectives from art-based research and educational research. From a practice-based research perspective, TS is explored as a creative intervention that invites participants to express transition experiences across different media. At the same time, the workshop generates exploratory insights into how TS activities may help universities better understand students’ transition journeys and inform more inclusive approaches to student support.
